RBOSE IT: Development summary (2011-01-04)

Added by Lukas over 1 year ago

This is a short summary of work done within last 3.5 weeks.

Summary

  • initial terms of use for the wiki has been created
  • research over licenses (in progress)
  • migrated to new murmur release
  • router issue (it took few days to get part of the systems up and running again)
  • python course has been started (5 participants have been present on the first meeting, then more than 20 hours was dedicated to playing with python when support by different people has been requested)
  • implemented konversation plugin to read irc remote logs
  • tg2 in webcore has been updated to version 2.1
  • some work on the new website's skin
  • menus for webcore have been implemented
  • initial work on databases and widget forms for the webcore
  • work on email system on the dev box (couldn't yet get it running the way we would like it to have)
  • automated solution for remote backups and servers maintenance has been implemented
  • unused space in murmur's database has been cleaned up reducing its size from 305MB to 0.8MB with no data lost during the process
  • work on setup of another server has been in progress, but there are still some NAT issues to be solved
  • plugin LinkRelay for supybot has been extended
  • brainstorm text records and more documentation has been added to gobby
  • ssl on the pms server has been fixed
  • other minor tasks

Some ideas

  • some concepts have been added for review in gobby (New Website/Todo)
  • there is an idea to hold 30 minutes long briefing meetings once a week at time which works for all the active guys
  • a lot of exciting projects is going around, but these are pulling us away from finishing the website, which initially we've seen as very important to facilitate collaboration, therefore an idea appeared to organize team of people ready to dedicate a part of their time to this specific project (for example it has been proposed to use gobby to create with directories and files a structure of the website we would like to see); seems that in next days at least 4 people has much more time which they can dedicate to development, let's make together good use of that time
  • still there is an urgent need for conceptual work on the website (what kind of functionality we want there, what kind of content, etc.)

Thanks everyone for your amazing work! Keep us going!

(Not completed objectives from previous summary stay active.)

Conceptual design: RBOSE meetup- Karma meeting, day one

Added by Kman almost 2 years ago

Time was spent deciding on what was commonly valued as a functional model. We think of Karma as being a server package that could be delivered as a blank sheet, where focus has been put on making the tools for custom tag creation as easily managed as possible. A simple, minimalistic and modular front end will be designed to stimulate the user to customize new themes. The first meeting produced some valuable threads that can be used to create the first layout prototypes.

Sensor design: More than half of the sensor designs are chosen!

Added by Kman almost 2 years ago

For issue 80, suggested low-budget solutions are the following:

EC: http://www.octiva.net/projects/ppm/
pH: http://www.66pacific.com/ph/simplest_ph.aspx
Soil moisture: http://www.instructables.com/id/Garduino-Gardening-Arduino/step4/Build-Your-Moisture-Sensor/
Light intensity: http://shop.jeelabs.com/products/lux-plug
Temperature: 10k thermistor

The pH-meter could provide accuracy within the needed scope of any small-scale indoor farm. The thermistor is a primitive tool for getting temp. readings, but will have to do with available budget considered.

Jeenode networks: Wireless thermistor data and a start on the lux

Added by Kman almost 2 years ago

After receiving the two jeenode v.4 last friday, i uploaded an example sketch ( http://cafe.jeelabs.net/pof/03_-_wireless_light_sensor/ ) to get some readings from the thermistor sensor. The script converts readings to lux values, but works for getting rough values on temperature difference in time. There is a script to enable data feeds from the lux plug in the Ports library (http://jeefiles.equi4.com/Ports.zip), however, this only performs serial data dumps. I want that on wireless aswell.
